How Types & Classes Work
Every type (Building type or Space type or Subspace type) is linked to a Class. This two-level structure is important to understand before you start configuring your Location types.
Term | What it means | Who controls it |
|---|---|---|
Class | A fixed, built-in list that the system uses to drive reporting and application behaviour. For example, 'Meeting' and 'Work' are Space Classes. | Spacewell — cannot be changed. |
Type | A label your organisation creates and assigns to a class. For example, you might create a 'Conference Room' type linked to the 'Meeting' Space Class. | Your administrator — fully configurable. |
This structure lets your organisation use your own naming conventions while the system still groups and reports on space classes consistently – so your reports remain meaningful regardless of how you choose to name your types.
