Data Platform quota and monitoring

Spacewell Data Platform applies a usage-based policy:

This means: each executed query represents a usage volume, expressed in data size (Megabytes, Gigabytes, Terabytes etc).

Spacewell offers 2 subscription levels for Data Platform:

Subscription level

How it works

Comments

Quota: 1 GB/day

Data analysts can query up to 1 GB/day

Suitable for most customers

Quota: 1 TB/day

Data analysts can query up to 1 TB/day

For very large customers

Spacewell cannot predict how frequently you will query the data, neither do we know if you will apply brute force queries (e.g. querying all reservations of the past, even if there were no changes) or more fine-grained queries (e.g. using incremental mechanisms to fetch only reservations that are new or changed compared to your previous load).

Spacewell recommendations when building queries

These recommendations should help reducing your data volume and avoid exceeding the quota of your subscription.

  • apply a full load/refresh policy for perpetual or slow-moving dimensions

    • location master data

    • various classifications /enums
    • custom attribute definitions
    • space allocations
    • inventory of assets/equipment
    • etc
  • apply incremental loads for fast-moving dimensions/objects

    • reservations

    • service requests
    • work orders / inspection tasks / preventive maintenance tasks / ….
    • purchase orders
    • etc

How to monitor volume quota

Quota monitoring is always in place and active.

When you exceed the quota of your subscription, your queries will fail and the Data Platform will throw an appropriate error message.

To help you track quota consumption, Spacewell Data Platform contains built-in views where you can consult your volume consumption at any time:

  • daily_usage_logs_v1
  • raw_logs_v1

daily_usage_logs_v1

This view provides a summary of the volume usage compared to the daily quota limit.

It’s the main view to watch when monitoring daily quota.

Column

Meaning

Comments

usage_date

calendar date when data volume was consumed
(primary key)

query usage values are aggregated per usage_date

total_billed_bytes

sum of data volume consumed, in bytes

this is compared to the daily quota

total_billed_gib

sum of data volume consumed, in gigabytes

total_billed_tib

sum of data volume consumed, in terabytes

percent_of_daily_limit_used

percentage of daily quota reached

main field for quota monitoring

raw_logs_v1

This view provides details of the volume usage per executed query.

It’s helpful for discovering how much volume each query consumes.

Column

Meaning

Comments

timestamp

timestamp when the query was executed (in UTC time zone)

usage_date

calendar date when the query was executed
(the date part of timestamp)

foreign key to daily_usage_logs.usage_date

total_billed_bytes

sum of data volume consumed, in bytes

service_data

details of the executed query
