How to access Spacewell Data Platform

Step 1 – order your monthly subscription

Spacewell offers access to its Data Platform via a monthly subscription.

There are 2 subscription levels:

Subscription level

How it works

Comments

1 GB/day volume

Data analysts can query up to 1 GB/day

Suitable for most customers

1 TB/day volume

Data analysts can query up to 1 TB/day

For large customers

For subscription pricing, please contact your sales representative.

The subscription level will depend on the size of your organization and the data volume that you want to query on a daily basis. For details see quota and monitoring.

The subscriptions have a pay-per-use policy, which is the most economic for our customers. It means that each executed query consumes a number of MB/GB/TB and charges apply based on that.

As a customer, how can I choose between the 1 GB/day and 1 TB/day pricing?

It all depends on the size of your organization, the type of data and the frequency of querying.

Some guidelines:

  • for static or slowly changing information, volumes are low.

    • Order of magnitude: a few hundreds or maybe thousands

    • Examples:

      • list of active locations

      • list of reservable objects
      • any other master data
  • for short-lived data, volumes are medium.

    • Order of magnitude: several thousands

    • Examples:

      • list of service requests per year

      • list of work orders per year
  • for time-intensive data like sensor values, volumes are high.

    • Order of magnitude: several millions

    • Examples:

      • occupancy sensor data

      • air quality/comfort sensor data

Spacewell recommends that customers start by using the 1 GB/day subscription and subsequently gain hands-on experience. In case of insufficient volume, consider upgrading to the 1 TB/day subscription.

Step 2 – request access

When the monthly subscription is settled, the Spacewell sales representative will request access for the customer.

Until further notice, this is done by sending an e-mail to the product team, which contains the following information:

  •    Customer name
  •    Subscription information: level + start date
  •    Contact person of the customer, who will receive the access credentials (Name + email address + telephone number)

Step 3 – activation and credentials delivery

The product team activates the customer’s access and checks if everything is working as expected.

The product team sends the credentials to the customer’s contact person.

This is in the form of a JSON file that contains a service account and secret key.

Step 4 – start using

In your BI tool of choice, select Google BigQuery as data provider and use the provided credentials to authenticate:

  • Service account
  • Secret key

After successful authentication, the Google BigQuery data provider will give access to the platform content.
