Zens Smart PuK Visual configuration

Difficulty: expert

Learning Objectives

After reading this article, you’ll be able to:

  • configure Zens sensors in Workplace
  • send Zens data to Workplace

Data-Stream Configuration

Data-stream setup

Zens sends data to the Workplace platform through a webhook. Create a customer unique token in External Data Sources, and communicates the connection details to Zens.

Device Type creation

Following instructions in Custom Device Types, create a device type for your Zens devices using following details:

  • Device Type name: “Zens Smart PuK”
  • Device Type ID: “Generic|zens”
  • External Data Source: select the one you created in the step above
  • Device Image: use the image on the right
  • Sensor Health
    • To Check: 8 hours

    • Offline: 2 days
  • Sensor Details
    • Presence (Reliable for real time confirmation on when a location is vacant again: set to “no”)

Make sure to save your configuration.

The creation of a custom device type for your Zens Smart PuK devices has the advantage that you’ll be able to identify them as such in your Studio Device Overview, get concrete information on device status per location etc.

Deploy sensors in Workplace Platform

Prerequisite

On each sensor, you’ll find a sticker indicating the serial number.

Zens Smart PuK Visual serial numbers follow the format “NB60x/VF/03xx/xxxxxx”.

“VF” in this example means that the Vodafone network is used. In other cases, it might be “TN” (to indicate Telenor) or an abbreviation for other network carrier.

Add New Device in Workplace back-end Studio

  1. Go to your environment (https://studio.cobundu.com ) and log in
  2. If not done yet, create External Data Sources and Custom Device Types following the instructions above
  3. Select the location, where you can manually add a sensor via "Add New Device"

Add New Device > Zens Smart PuK Visual in Studio

Manually add device through location > devices > new: location is filled in.

‪Select the Device Type you have created according to the instructions above. This will automatically link the device channel.

Fill in the Device ID following https://onespacewell.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KB/pages/4357490176/Custom+Device+Types#Configure-devices-in-Workplace

Info

Use Zens serial number to create your device ID.

Enter a meaningful Device Name (eg customer_floor number_area).

Select a Location from the location tree if this is already known (automatically filled in if location was selected before adding new device).

Linked Locations is not relevant for this kind of sensor.

Selecting the correct Device Type "Generic PIR" should automatically set the Type to "Presence" and the Channel to “PIR” (see Advanced).

Quality Assurance

Next step is the Quality Assurance to make sure that the whole installation and configuration of your Motion sensor was a success. See Quality Assurance Occupancy and Utilization Sensor

Check the Motion Sensor

The sensor LED will glow green when the motion sensor is properly connected. This is the sign that the sensor is receiving power.

Note: If the green LED does not work, check the RJ12 connections to the charging module.

After connection, the LED sensor will flash orange. After 30 seconds the flashing will stop and the sensor is in use

Wave your hand slowly 5 to 10 times in front of the sensor. This will activate the motion sensor, and the sensor's LED will turn orange Checking the motion sensor and power supply Note: If this does not happen, the entire RJ12 cabling and power supply must be checked.

After the installation of the charging module and the motion sensor, the working can be checked.
