To gain insight into and an overview of the data, you can use four basic grid functionalities wherever you have columns on your screen:
- Sort
- Filter
- Column chooser
- Group
Sort:
By clicking the column description, you can sort (A–Z and Z–A). If a column has been sorted, an arrow is displayed next to the column description. The Grid settings menu also allows you to sort by multiple columns.
Filter:
You can filter each column by clicking the filter icon next to the column name, as shown in the example below.
Filter by condition:
Make a selection by checking or unchecking the box.
Filter by value:
Depending on the data type in the column (text, numbers, …), an advanced filter can be configured.
There are two ways to clear the filter:
- click the filter icon again and choose “Select all”, or
- go to Grid settings and clear all filters there.
Column chooser:
This allows you to choose which columns you want to see on your screen. This screen layout is saved for the login name, so it is a personal view.
To activate the column chooser, click Grid settings. A menu will then appear, as shown below.
Then select Column chooser
You will then see an overview of the Column settings. Here, you can choose which columns you want to display on your screen and which columns you want to freeze.
Freezing means that the frozen columns are always visible when you scroll through the screen.
Group:
The Group functionality allows you to arrange the data in a specific order
By selecting “Show grouping panel” in the Grid, a bar appears above the column names. By dragging the column name to this bar, the data is displayed in groups, as shown in the example below of a financial plan grouped by fund description. Grouping also displays the subtotals.
When grouping is used, an additional icon appears that allows you to collapse or expand the groups
The example above shows the plan expanded, and the example below shows it collapsed
You can remove the grouping by clicking the X in the field displayed in the grouping panel.
