If you already have displays or consider buying other devices, please consider the below system requirements in order to run Spacewell Workplace apps.
The system requirements listed on this page are relevant for following applications:
- The Workplace App
- Kiosk App
Good to know
Workplace app use is optimal when downloaded from official stores
The best way to run above Spacewell Workplace apps, is to download them from the official stores: this way, the app will be updated each time Spacewell releases a new version!
In some cases, it’s possible to side-load the app. Make sure to read below instructions to see if this is possible for your use case.
Basic System Requirements for Workplace apps
In all cases, we assume
- the device is running a standard OS,
- it’s possible to download and install apps (ideally from the official app store from that OS)
- it’s possible to log in to that app by providing user name and password.
Avoid (static) images burning in the screen by choosing devices designed for 24/7 broadcasting
To ensure an optimal experience with our apps, especially those that continuously display information like the Kiosk App, it's essential to use devices designed for 24/7 operation. These devices should be capable of running continuously without interruption.
Using devices not designed for continuous operation can lead to image retention, where a static image (like a reservation status screen) can cause a permanent ghost image to appear on the screen. This can happen if the device is not equipped with features to prevent such issues.
Android
Info
For Android, Kiosk App in “kiosk mode” is available in landscape and portrait mode. Kiosk App in “room display mode” is only available in landscape view.
Android Software Requirements
Because of the relatively slow software update penetration on Android devices, Spacewell supports at-least the latest Android release and 3 previous versions.
This policy allows Spacewell apps to be compatible with around 90% of all active Android devices in the market at any point in time.
Most popular Android phone manufacturers also promise 3 or 2 major OS updates during a device's lifetime, which means a new device with the latest Android release will be compatible with Spacewell apps for 4-5 years comfortably.
Version compatibility
- 2026 - Android 10 to Android 16
Note
If you’re using QBIC devices, please check the version compatibility at the top of this page, as it takes into account QBIC device type, Android version and the latest Kiosk app version.
Android Hardware Requirements
- Spacewell apps can run on 4GB RAM, but actually minimum 8GB RAM is recommended.
- (Free) Internal System Storage: minimum 8G (More offline storage capacity might be required based on app usage. Having enough free storage enables better data caching on the device, resulting in quicker loading times and a better user experience)
- Resolution: 720 X 1028 (5")
- Camera (to scan for example location QR codes): VGA (Camera support is required for some features. A camera with auto-focus is highly recommended if QR code scanning is required)
iOS
Info
Kiosk App is not available for iOS.
iOS Software Requirements
iOS updates are installed by users rather quickly. As a result, Spacewell apps support the latest iOS version and 1 previous version.
