Browan Battery Replacement

Difficulty: expert

Learning Objectives

After reading this article, you’ll be able to:

  • Perform a Battery Replacement on a Browan sensor

When replacing a battery (or even placing the same battery again), make sure to deplete the capacitor (meaning there is no left-over "power" inside the sensor) by either

  • wait for at least 6h between removal and replacement of the battery
  • or connect the both poles by a metal wire (for example a folded open paperclip) for more than 10 seconds (see image)

Note

Failing to deplete the capacitor upon battery replacement will result in false battery percentage readings in the future.

Info

Best Practice:
Measure the voltage with a voltage meter to be sure the capacitor is drained.

The first few messages the sensor sends after battery replacement might look weird. Once you trigger it for occupancy, the data should be updated in Studio and show you the latest battery value (now, with the new battery: 100%).

Info

Make sure that gateways are confirmed connecting to the Workplace Platform when performing this action, so that the sensor (that has just found power again) can easily connect to the gateway without depletion of the battery.

Browan sensors work on 1/2 AA 3.6V lithium batteries
